Valve Jockey Series #1 - Neil Caron's Oatmeal IPA

DULUTH, MN – Bent Paddle Brewing Company is excited to announce the launch of a new beer series in 2017 - the Valve Jockey Brewer’s Series! The brewers of Bent Paddle started referring to themselves as “valve jockeys”  -  always running about the brewery opening and closing valves - and just like that a series is born. The Valve Jockey Brewer’s Series celebrates the creativity of the Bent Paddle brewers by giving them a platform to design, create and bring to life a recipe of their own invention on a large scale.  Beyond the creation of the recipe, the brewers will also be able showcase their passions and interests beyond the brewhouse by nominating a charity where 5% of proceeds of the beer will be donated. Each brewer’s beer will be released in 750mL screen printed bottles that features a likeness of the brewer and the style of beer they created with limited draft options available. There will be three Valve Jockey beers released in 2017 and the beers will be available in all of Bent Paddle’s distribution territories.

Valve Jockey #1 - Neil Caron’s “Oatmeal IPA”. The first in the Valve Jockey Series comes from our longest brewing brewer, Neil Caron! Neil joined the Bent Paddle family just after it opened as a “beertender” and has since moved into the brewhouse and currently is the lead brewer on the team. As Neil describes his beer on the bottle: “A smooth to drink, fun to smell, new school IPA. Huge hop aromatics, nice bitterness, combined with a silky, smooth mouth feel make this hop bomb approachable yet intriguing to the hoppiest of hopheads out there.” The Valve Jockey Oatmeal IPA is 7.0% ABV and 60IBU’s and features some new varieties of hops including Rakau, Idaho 7, Azzaca and Citra. Look for Valve Jockey - Oatmeal IPA beginning the week of January 21, 2017.

Neil’s charity of choice is the Minnesota Climber’s Association (MCA) as Neil is an avid rock climber.  The Minnesota Climbers Association is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization made up of members and volunteers dedicated to preserving Minnesota climbing.  The MCA advocates for access for climbers by encouraging responsible practices, promoting conservation and stewardship of private and publicly held lands, as well as, fostering communication and awareness of the sport to the public.  Through MCA’s Adopt-A-Crag stewardship events crags are kept clean for climbers and other users and the MCA along with the City of Sandstone maintain the beautiful Sandstone Ice Park for winter ice climbing plus much more.  Learn more about the Minnesota Climber’s Association at
